Baku Metropoliteni says tunnelling crews have completed 63 metres of excavation as part of the project to separate the Green and Red lines, with 211 metres planned in total.
The Baku Metro separation project calls for digging a 211-metre tunnel in all, according to the state-run Baku Metropoliteni company. Mammad Rzayev, head of the company’s Construction Projects Management Department, said work is proceeding on schedule and as planned.
Rzayev said extending the Red and Green lines is a complex, multi-stage project. He noted that international financial institutions are funding such projects and that the relevant processes have already begun.
The official added that preparations are now underway for a new tender round. Construction and installation work will start once a winner is selected, he said.
