Two Azerbaijani boxers reach world youth championship semi-finals

Nihat Gasimov and Safdar Mammadzade have advanced to the semi-finals of the World Boxing Youth Championships in Budva, Montenegro, securing at least bronze medals for Azerbaijan on October 25.

Two Azerbaijani boxers have reached the semi-final stage of the World Boxing Youth Championships for athletes under 19, held in Budva, Montenegro. Nihat Gasimov, competing in the 55-kilogram category, will face India’s Aditya Aditya next, in what is scheduled as the third bout of the evening program in Ring A.

Safdar Mammadzade, who competes in the over-90-kilogram division, will meet Kazakhstan’s Vladislav Samozhonov. That fight is listed as the tenth bout of the day in the same ring.

The evening session is set to begin at 20:00 Baku time on October 25.

By reaching the semi-finals, both Azerbaijani boxers have already guaranteed themselves at least bronze medals at the world championship. Should they win their upcoming bouts, they will advance to the final to compete for gold.
