Three employees of a communal services agency in Absheron district have been convicted of stealing two metal bins from their own workplace and selling them for scrap. The Absheron District Court sentenced each of them to a restriction of liberty for 1 year and 6 months.
The three men, born in 1983, 1987 and 1993, worked for the Landscaping and Communal Services department under the Housing and Communal Services Production and Operation Repair Association, which reports to the Absheron District Executive Authority. Two of them held laborer positions, while the third drove a Mercedes-brand garbage truck for the agency.
According to the investigation, the men took two metal bins from their employer, each valued at 500 manats, and sold them to a scrap metal collection point for just 70 manats in total. Each of the three pocketed only 23 manats from the deal.
All three were charged under Article 177.2.1 of the Criminal Code, which covers theft committed by two or more people acting in a prior conspiracy. The case was heard by the Absheron District Court.
The court ruled to restrict the liberty of each of the three defendants for a period of 1 year and 6 months.
