Baku dairy plant suspended over violations, expired products

Azerbaijan’s Food Safety Agency has suspended operations at a dairy plant in Baku’s Sabunchu district after an unscheduled inspection uncovered other producers’ labels, moldy products and hygiene violations.

The Food Safety Agency of Azerbaijan carried out the inspection at a dairy production facility belonging to an individual, Aysel Jumshudova, located at 14 B. Bunyadov Street in Baku’s Bakikhanov settlement. According to the agency, the plant had been operating without official approval, its sanitary conditions failed to meet required standards, and proper temperature controls were not observed during production.

Inspectors also found labelling that misled consumers. One product containing no cream at all was labeled “Creamy shor.” Several other items made in Baku carried names associated with different regions, including “Ismayilli shor,” “Ismayilli dovga” and “Ivanovka yogurt.”

Other producers’ labels and spoiled goods

At the facility, inspectors found labels bearing the trademarks of various producers (Çinar, Cantəpə, Fermer.V.D, İvanuşka, Fermer and Emay). They also discovered moldy dairy products and goods past their expiration date.

Based on the violations found, an administrative protocol was drawn up, and samples of the dairy products were sent for laboratory analysis. Authorities decided to destroy the products deemed unfit for consumption along with the illegal labels. The facility’s operations have been suspended until all identified violations are fully resolved.
