Portugal forward Cristiano Ronaldo may face disciplinary action after leaving the national team’s training camp without permission ahead of a Nations League match against Denmark. Under Portuguese Football Federation rules, he could be banned from competitions for up to six months.
The incident took place before Portugal’s 4-2 win over Denmark in the third round of the Nations League. Citing the Portuguese Football Federation’s (FPF) regulations, newspaper “A Bola” reported that Ronaldo left the team camp without authorization around that time.
Under FPF rules, a player who has received an official call-up to the national team can face a disciplinary investigation if he skips training, a match or another national team event without a valid excuse, or leaves the camp without permission.
For such violations, the federation’s statutes allow for a ban of one to six months from official competitions. The FPF has not yet announced a formal decision on Ronaldo’s case.
