Azerbaijan’s carpet production jumps more than 61-fold in nine months

Azerbaijan produced 152,700 square metres of carpets and carpet-type products in January-September 2026, up 61.1 times from the same period last year, the State Statistics Committee reported.

Carpet production in Azerbaijan hit a record in the first nine months of 2026, with output reaching 152,700 square metres, according to the State Statistics Committee. The figure is 61.1 times higher than in the same January-September period of 2025.

Exports also posted a sharp rise. The State Customs Committee said Azerbaijan shipped carpets and other woven floor coverings worth $252,580 abroad over the nine months, 4.1 times more than a year earlier.

Stockpiles of finished carpets held in industrial enterprise warehouses stood at 5,300 square metres as of October 1, up 3.9% from the same date last year, the statistics committee said.

Imports moved in the opposite direction. The total value of carpets and similar woven floor coverings brought into the country fell 2.7% year-on-year to $14.66 million.

Comparison with last year’s figures

In January-September 2025, Azerbaijan produced just 2,500 square metres of carpets. Carpet exports that period totalled $61,210, while imports stood at $15.07 million.
