Azerbaijan’s national traditions, costumes and tea culture were presented at the 21st Arirang Multicultural Festival for Migrants in Changwon, South Korea. A dedicated Azerbaijani corner was set up at the event with support from the Azerbaijani Diaspora Support Foundation (ADDF).
At the Azerbaijani corner, organisers presented the country’s historical and cultural heritage alongside national costumes, the art of kelaghayi silk headscarves, traditional tea culture and samples of national music to Korean and foreign visitors. Festival-goers were able to learn about the cultural values of the Azerbaijani people through the display.
Organisers said the corner helped strengthen cultural ties with other nations and contributed to raising Azerbaijan’s profile on the international stage.
The project was led by Gunay Karimova, an ethnic Azerbaijani living in South Korea, with support from Leyla Masimli and Aziza Huseynzade.
The Arirang Multicultural Festival for Migrants is considered one of South Korea’s largest multicultural events. It is organised by local authorities, the Migrant Workers’ Welfare Center of South Gyeongsang Province and the Changwon Cultural Foundation.
