Azerbaijan has signed an agreement in Baku to take part in Expo 2030 Riyadh, according to a press release from the Expo issued via Business Wire. The document was signed by presidential aide Anar Alakbarov and Expo 2030 Riyadh chief executive officer Talal al-Marri.

According to the release, the signing ceremony took place in Baku and was presented as a key step marking Azerbaijan’s transition from the planning stage to actual participation in the exhibition. The release said that holding the signing in Baku reflects the long-standing friendly ties between Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia and underscores the importance Azerbaijan attaches to deepening this cooperation.

Presidential aide Anar Alakbarov said the signing of the agreement in Baku was a great honour for Azerbaijan. In the statement, Alakbarov stressed that Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia maintain close cooperation in political, economic, energy and cultural fields, adding that his country plans to use its pavilion to present its heritage, culture and vision for the future to the world.

Talal al-Marri, chief executive officer of Expo 2030 Riyadh, said international participants in the exhibition are increasingly moving from the confirmation stage to planning their pavilions. He said the agreement signed by Azerbaijan marks another important milestone in this process and that organisers are ready for close cooperation with Azerbaijan’s partners.
