Hikmat Hajiyev, head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said Azerbaijan harbors no intention of taking revenge on Armenia, though much work remains before lasting peace is achieved.
Hikmat Hajiyev made the remarks during a special session titled “The Language of Peace and Countering Disinformation,” held as part of the Baku Culture and Media Dialogue Platform. Addressing Azerbaijan-Armenia relations, he stressed the importance of being open and honest on the subject.
According to the presidential aide, certain events have left a deep mark on the collective memory of the Azerbaijani people, and these painful memories cannot simply be forgotten. He noted that this experience has already become an inseparable part of the country’s history and culture.
Hajiyev nonetheless emphasized that despite all this, Baku’s intentions are not driven by revanchism. He said many more steps and initiatives still need to be taken to secure a lasting peace.
