Russia’s Interfax news agency, citing Israeli business outlet Globes, reports that Israeli defence giant Elbit Systems has signed a $235 million contract with Azerbaijan covering PULS rocket artillery systems and Extra-MR precision-guided missiles.
According to Interfax, Elbit Systems has agreed to supply Azerbaijan under a contract running over three years. The agency attributed the report to Globes, an Israeli economic publication, which in turn cited sources familiar with the matter.
Under the deal, the Israeli company will deliver PULS rocket launcher systems along with additional rocket-artillery equipment, a full logistics support package, and a number of fast-strike Extra-MR missiles, the report said.
Globes described the Extra-MR as a high-precision missile designed for medium-range strikes, capable of destroying enemy targets at distances of up to 80 kilometres. Interfax noted that the missile is compatible with Elbit’s PULS system as well as existing C4I command-and-control networks, making it a flexible and cost-effective option for a range of missions.
No official confirmation yet
Interfax did not provide further details and said the agreement had not been officially confirmed by either side.
