President Ilham Aliyev has sent a congratulatory letter to Chinese leader Xi Jinping marking the anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. The text was published on the president’s official website.
In his letter, Ilham Aliyev praised China’s achievements under Xi Jinping’s leadership in improving public welfare and advancing economic, social, scientific and technological development. The president noted that these accomplishments have propelled China into the ranks of the world’s most influential nations and turned it into one of the key centers of global influence.
The letter noted that Baku attaches great importance to deepening relations with Beijing. It said the two sides maintain high-level political dialogue and mutual trust, with each country respecting the other’s independence and territorial integrity. Aliyev described the elevation of bilateral ties to the level of comprehensive strategic partnership as a concrete result of the two sides’ firm resolve and consistent efforts.
The president said relations between the two countries have recently been enriched by significant developments, with cooperation in the economy, trade, transport and logistics, investment, energy, agriculture and humanitarian fields expanding rapidly and reaching a new level of quality. He also highlighted that the visa-free travel regime, now in place for a year, has strengthened people-to-people contacts and boosted tourism.
The letter said China’s Belt and Road Initiative, along with other connectivity projects implemented within the Middle Corridor framework and jointly with Central Asian states, is helping expand cooperation worldwide. Ilham Aliyev noted that energy partnership between the two countries has entered a new phase, commending the work carried out by China’s well-known Universal Energy company in Azerbaijan’s renewable energy sector. He pointed to the recent commissioning of the Gobustan Solar Power Plant, built by the company, as another sign that economic cooperation is moving in new directions.
The president concluded his letter by wishing the Chinese people lasting peace, prosperity and happiness.
