Fuel prices in the United Kingdom have surged to a fresh record, driven by rising tensions between Washington and Tehran. Motoring group RAC says the average price of a litre of diesel has now topped £1.9918.
Amid the fallout from the US-Iran standoff, Britain’s fuel market has hit a new milestone, with the average price of a litre of diesel climbing to an unprecedented £1.9918, according to motoring organisation RAC.
The figure surpasses the previous record of £1.9909 set in the summer of 2022.
Based on RAC’s calculations, a driver filling up a typical family car with a 55-litre tank now pays around £110 — some £31 more than at the start of the tensions between the two countries.
According to the Central Bank of Azerbaijan’s official exchange rate for September 28, 2026, one British pound is worth 2.2514 manat.
