A worker was seriously injured at a production facility run by Unimetal LLC in the Absheron district, losing three fingers as a result.
The accident occurred at a factory in the village of Mahammadi in the Absheron district. A worker identified as Chingiz Babayev had his hand caught in a machine, and doctors were forced to amputate three of his fingers during surgery.
It emerged that the equipment involved in the accident had been assembled by hand rather than produced at a factory, and it lacked any compliance certification. Investigators also noted the absence of locking and safety mechanisms that would have protected workers, citing this as a contributing factor in the accident.
The Absheron District Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the incident. Representatives of Unimetal LLC declined to comment on the matter.
Unimetal LLC is known as one of the companies operating in the country’s supply and sale of metal, steel and iron products.
