Hürriyet: Turkish defence firms sign over $500 million in deals in Baku

Turkey’s Hürriyet newspaper reports that leading Turkish defence companies signed agreements and memorandums of understanding worth more than $500 million with Azerbaijan at the ADEX 2026 exhibition in Baku.

According to the newspaper, the documents signed cover joint production, technology transfer and the supply of defence systems. The agreements were signed at a ceremony held under the auspices of Turkey’s Presidency of Defence Industries and Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence Industry.

Hürriyet notes that ASELSAN and Azerbaijan’s NOVASIS LLC signed a preliminary protocol to build a plant in Nakhchivan, while ASELSAN also signed a memorandum of understanding to supply Azerbaijan with “Alp 100” radars. Bogazici Savunma signed a partnership and local production agreement with the Azerbaijani side, and protocols were also signed between Bogazici Savunma, Kayi Savunma and NOVASIS LLC.

The newspaper reports that BAYKAR signed two separate contracts with Azerbaijan for the supply of the “Mizrak” smart loitering munition and the “Antidote” system. In addition, ROKETSAN signed an agreement to supply Azerbaijan with the “Barbaros” coastal defence system, while TUSAS signed a deal for the supply of “Hurkus” aircraft. A memorandum on expanding cooperation was signed between Miras, a company affiliated with Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence, and Turkey’s Mechanical and Chemical Industry Corporation (MKE).

According to Hürriyet, Haluk Gorgun, head of Turkey’s Presidency of Defence Industries, said cooperation between the two countries is built on a long-term, sustainable model. He said the sides are building infrastructure that reduces dependence on foreign suppliers, keeps costs efficient and lays the groundwork for future-generation projects. Gorgun added that the cooperation is aimed at eventually including other member states of the Organization of Turkic States.
