Azerbaijan exported 41,414.5 tons of persimmons worth $32.7 million in January-September, the State Customs Committee has reported. Both the volume and value of shipments declined compared with the same period last year.
According to the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, persimmon exports fell by 6,311.9 tons, or 13.2%, year on year in volume terms. In value terms, the decline amounted to $1.39 million, or 4%. Even so, revenue from persimmon exports accounts for only a small share of the country’s overall export turnover.
Azerbaijan’s foreign trade turnover reached $37.211 billion in the same period, up 5.2% from a year earlier. Exports made up $23.865 billion of that total, while imports accounted for $13.346 billion.
Over the past year, the country’s exports grew by 28.3%, while imports dropped by 20.4%. As a result, foreign trade posted a surplus of $10.519 billion, 5.7 times higher than in the same period last year.
