The Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum got underway in Baku on Wednesday, bringing together prominent foreign investors, government officials and representatives of international financial institutions for a two-day event.
The Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum has opened in Baku. The Economy Ministry and its subordinate agency, the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO), are organizing the event, held in strategic partnership with Italy’s The European House – Ambrosetti.
The two-day forum runs under the theme “Restoring Trust in a Fractured World: The South Caucasus as an Anchor for Global Connectivity and Investment Stability.” It has drawn internationally renowned investors, government representatives, officials, delegates from international financial institutions and business leaders.
Plenary sessions and panel discussions will cover the Middle Corridor trade route, energy and the green transition, digital transformation driven by artificial intelligence, infrastructure, industry and free economic zones, critical raw materials, agribusiness, financial cooperation, small and medium-sized enterprise development, tourism, the real estate market, and investment in human capital.
Organizers say Azerbaijan’s strategic geographic position linking East with West and North with South, along with its developing transport and logistics infrastructure, energy projects, expanding industrial zones and growing non-oil sector, has opened up new investment opportunities for the country.
Among the forum’s main goals are identifying new avenues for cooperation, discussing joint projects and building long-term investment ties.
One focus is the development of the Middle Corridor, a route in which Azerbaijan holds a key position. As the corridor’s role in global trade expands, it is boosting the country’s transit, logistics and regional trade potential. Amid growing efforts to diversify supply chains and rising interest in alternative transport routes, Azerbaijan is strengthening its position as a major transit and logistics hub between Europe and Asia. Energy security and the shift to green energy will also be central topics at the forum. Alongside traditional energy resources, rising investment in renewable energy projects shows that Azerbaijan’s energy sector is entering a new stage of development.
Discussions will also address artificial intelligence and digital transformation. Azerbaijan’s innovation environment is expanding and investment in new technologies is rising — trends that carry significant weight for the country’s future economic development.
The development of industrial zones makes up a key part of the forum’s agenda. Prospects in this area include building new production facilities, expanding manufacturing chains and creating export-oriented products. Industrial zones offer investors accessible and flexible working conditions, helping form regional production and logistics hubs.
The forum’s strategic discussions also cover critical raw materials, agribusiness, financial cooperation, SME development, tourism and real estate.
Organizers particularly stress that investment in human capital and innovation will become a main driver of future economic growth. With new technologies being adopted and the labor market changing rapidly, training skilled workers, raising professional standards and strengthening ties between business and education are seen as essential parts of any long-term investment strategy.
The Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum also serves as an important platform for expanding direct dialogue between Azerbaijan and foreign investors. Meetings and discussions held during the forum are expected to help present potential investment projects, forge new business ties and identify cooperation opportunities across various sectors.
Overall, the forum positions Azerbaijan as a strategic business hub linking regional and global markets, while creating conditions for new projects and partnerships. At a time of rising global economic and geopolitical uncertainty, discussing investment stability, mutual trust and long-term cooperation in Baku underscores the significance of the event.
Viewed in this light, the Second Azerbaijan International Investment Forum stands out not simply as a two-day international gathering but as a key strategic venue for discussing Azerbaijan’s future economic priorities, its investment opportunities and the region’s evolving place in the global economic system.
