Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has put forward an initiative to create a new investment and financial platform between Kazakhstan and Germany during a meeting with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Berlin.
The two sides believe the mechanism would combine German and other European capital with Kazakhstan’s financial resources, guarantee instruments and risk-sharing schemes. The “Baiterek” holding company will be responsible for preparing and structuring the projects.
The planned cooperation covers three main areas: reserves of strategically important raw materials, energy and industry, and mechanisms for financing various projects.
Another focus of the meeting was potential cooperation in digital technologies and artificial intelligence. The Kazakh side proposed joint work with Germany on data centers, cloud services, cybersecurity and digital banking solutions. The “Alatau City” project was also presented as a favorable location for German technology and capital.
During the talks, Tokayev reiterated Kazakhstan’s intention to serve as a reliable partner for Germany in the Central Asian and Eurasian region.
