Azerbaijan’s U-15 national football team has beaten Israel 3:1 at the U-15 World Cup in Baku, extending its unbeaten run against group opponents other than Australia. The team, led by head coach Famil Khalilov, had already defeated Timor-Leste 6:0 and Andorra 1:0 earlier in the tournament. Its only defeat so far came against Australia, a 1:3 loss.
The championship is being held at the Hovsan Training Complex, with football associations from 189 FIFA member countries taking part. Organisers plan to stage around 1,000 matches over the course of the event.
The U-15 World Cup will run until October 30, with the final scheduled to be played at Baku’s Crystal Hall.
