Azerbaijan signs agreement to join Expo 2030 Riyadh

Azerbaijan’s chief commissioner for the project, Anar Alakbarov, and Expo 2030 Riyadh’s chief executive officer, Talal bin Hussein Al-Marri, signed an agreement in Baku confirming the country’s participation in the international exhibition.

The document, signed at a meeting in Baku, is being described as an important step in Azerbaijan’s preparations for Expo 2030 Riyadh, due to be held in Saudi Arabia. Anar Alakbarov, an assistant to the President of Azerbaijan serving as the country’s chief commissioner for the project, said relations between Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are built on mutual friendship, respect and close partnership.

He noted that cooperation between the two countries is steadily expanding in the political, economic, energy and cultural spheres. According to Alakbarov, Azerbaijan’s participation in the exhibition both highlights the significance of this partnership and expresses support for Saudi Arabia’s hosting of such a large-scale international event.

He added that the Azerbaijani pavilion will introduce visitors from around the world to the country’s rich historical and cultural heritage and its development prospects, while also strengthening the bridge of friendship between peoples.

More countries joining the exhibition

Expo 2030 Riyadh’s chief executive officer, Talal bin Hussein Al-Marri, said international interest in the project is growing steadily, with countries that have already decided to take part now building their pavilions and preparing programs for visitors. He said the agreement signed with Azerbaijan is part of this broader preparation process.

Al-Marri added that the Riyadh Expo will bring together a wide range of countries and peoples, create space for the exchange of ideas, broaden cooperation and open the door to new partnerships that will help shape a shared future.

The World Expo in Riyadh is scheduled to run from October 1, 2030, to March 21, 2031. Work is currently underway to build the exhibition site and establish its core infrastructure.
