Azerbaijan’s investment in Georgia reaches $3.6 billion

Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Georgia, Faig Guliyev, says Azerbaijani capital is now present in more than 5,500 companies operating in Georgia, with total investment reaching $3.6 billion.

Azerbaijan’s investment in Georgia has reached $3.6 billion, with Azerbaijani capital present in more than 5,500 companies operating in the country, Azerbaijan’s ambassador to Georgia, Faig Guliyev, said. The figure underscores the growing weight of Azerbaijani capital in Georgia’s investment landscape.

According to updated data released by Georgia’s National Statistics Office (Geostat) in August 2026, Azerbaijan was the second-largest source of foreign direct investment in Georgia in 2025. Geostat figures also show that Azerbaijan’s direct investment in Georgia totaled $45.3 million in the January-June period of 2026, a figure covering only the first half of the current year and distinct from the $3.6 billion cumulative total cited by Guliyev.

Annual trade turnover between the two countries stands at roughly $1.4 billion. The sides are aiming to raise that figure to $2 billion, a target that could open additional opportunities for manufacturers, exporters, transport companies and service providers.

Energy and transport links

The economic partnership between the two countries has long been anchored by the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline and the South Caucasus gas pipeline. This infrastructure allows Azerbaijani energy resources to reach international markets via Georgian territory.

The Middle Corridor links Central Asia and the Caspian Sea basin with the markets of Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkey and Europe. The Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway is one of the key elements of this transport network, creating opportunities for freight transport and logistics services.

The two countries’ geographic positions make their cooperation complementary: Azerbaijan provides access to Central Asian economies across the Caspian Sea, while Georgia offers a gateway toward the Black Sea and Turkey. The sides plan to expand cooperation in renewable energy, electricity transmission, tourism, agriculture, manufacturing and digital services.
