Azerbaijani judoka Ruslan Pashayev (66kg) beat Turkmenistan’s Serdar Rahimov in the last 16 at the judo world championships in Baku.
A day earlier, Azerbaijan team member Ahmad Yusifov (60kg) claimed the team’s first success of the tournament, winning gold. It was the fourth gold medal in the history of Azerbaijani judo at world championships among adults, and the country’s first-ever world title in the 60-kilogram weight category.
The world championships are being held at the National Gymnastics Arena and will conclude on October 11.
