According to the State Statistics Committee, wind energy production in Azerbaijan has risen sharply since the start of the year. In January-September, the country’s wind power plants generated 841.3 million kWh of electricity, a 27.1-fold increase compared with the corresponding period last year.
The figure points to a significant rise in the share of wind plants in the country’s renewable energy generation. The data was released as part of the State Statistics Committee’s nine-month report for 2026 on electricity, gas and steam production, as well as distribution and supply activities in the sector.
The report noted that Azerbaijan generated a total of 20,029.6 million kWh of electricity nationwide during the period. Of this, 19,452.5 million kWh was registered as marketable electricity intended for sale.
The statistics agency did not provide further comment on the specific reasons behind the rise in wind energy production.
